Senior Backend Engineer/Senior Envoy Engineer

On behalf of the customer, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer/Senior Envoy Engineer to join our team in the Platform mission. This team is responsible for our Perimeter infrastructure, specifically our Envoy-based reverse-proxy that handles all external traffic. The main goal of this role is to implement security features (such as rate limiting and WAF) on our perimeter to protect our platform from various types of bad traffic, including DDoS attacks and scraping attempts. In the coming 6 months, we plan to implement multiple protections on our perimeter (Edge) to enhance our platform's security against these issues. Our main deliverables will include the implementation of a rate limiting system, a per user/client quota system, and WAF with blocking capabilities. As for the role itself, we are seeking a senior backend/infra engineer with significant experience with Envoy. This person will be joining our dedicated Envoy taskforce.
