Privacy policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to the YoupalGroup platform. This platform is owned and operated by Youpal AB ("Youpalgroup", "Company", "We", "Us" or "Our"), the data controller for your personal information. We understand and respect the importance of your privacy and are committed to safeguarding your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes our practices in relation to the collection, use, disclosure, and protection of your personal information within our Platform. When handling data we observe all relevant regulations, especially those of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and we have taken the technical and organisational measures required for appropriate data protection. If you have any questions or concerns about this Policy, please contact us at legal@youpal.se.

2. Definitions

"Personal Data" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (the "data subject"). "Processing" means any operation performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means — including collection, recording, storage, use, disclosure, and erasure. The "Data Controller" is the party that determines the purposes and means of processing. "Talents" are independent contractors registered on our Platform who offer specialised skills or expertise; "Clients" are legal entities that engage those Talents through the Platform; and "Users" refers to both Talents and Clients who receive services through the Platform.

3. Use of personal data

We use your personal data:

  • To provide and improve our services, measure interest and engagement, address your inquiries, process your registration, verify the information you provide, and for compliance and internal business purposes, including business communication and cooperation with Talents and Clients.
  • To tailor the content and offers we display to you, both on the service and elsewhere online.
  • To administer and develop our business relationship with you and, where applicable, the corporation or other legal entity you represent.
  • To enforce and comply with the law, protect the property and rights of Youpalgroup or a third party, protect the safety of the public, and prevent or stop activity that may be illegal, fraudulent, unethical, or legally actionable.
  • To recommend features, products, and services that might interest you, identify your preferences, and personalise your experience with our platform.

4. Cookies and other technologies

Our web servers automatically collect limited information about your computer's connection to the Internet, including your IP address, when you visit our site; your IP address does not identify you personally. We use cookie identifiers and similar tracking technologies to enable essential features — recognising your browser or device for security and fraud prevention, recognising you when you sign in, and researching how Users interact with our services so we can improve them. We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies today, and we do not share your browsing with third-party advertising networks. If we introduce analytics in future, we'll update this policy and our cookie policy before doing so. Almost all browsers let you refuse new cookies, be notified when you receive one, or disable cookies altogether. For the full list of what we set and why, see our Cookie policy.

5. Keeping and securing your data

We keep information no longer than is reasonably necessary, and if you no longer wish to use our services you can ask us to delete your personal data at any time by contacting us. We reserve the right to retain information where it is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable tax and revenue laws, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements — deleting it once it is no longer needed, but no later than 2 years. Talent data is stored for as long as necessary to achieve its purpose or as required by statutory retention periods, while Client data transmitted to us is stored for 1 year after cooperation ends and then deleted. To keep your information secure we use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption and suitable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure.

6. Your rights as a data subject

  • to obtain information about your personal data (art. 15 GDPR);
  • to request the correction, supplementation, or deletion of personal data that is incorrect or not processed in accordance with the law (arts. 16, 17 GDPR);
  • to require us to restrict the processing of your personal data (art. 18 GDPR);
  • to request data portability (art. 20 GDPR);
  • to object to the processing of your personal data (art. 21 GDPR) where it is based on art. 6(1)(e) or (f) GDPR.

Where we process your data on the basis of your consent, you have the right to revoke that consent at any time by e-mail or post.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page, and we encourage you to review it periodically. Our platform may also link to other websites that we do not control and are not responsible for; this policy does not apply to those sites, which are subject to their own privacy and other policies.

8. Provisions for talents

If you register as a Talent, the legal basis for processing is your consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) together with the initiation or fulfilment of a contract (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We process the data needed to match you with Clients — including your first and last name, photo, e-mail address, date of birth, location and country of residence, work experience, skills, education, national ID number, address, recommendations, and the content of messages exchanged with Clients where it may identify you as a person. Your data is treated with the utmost confidentiality and is not shared with external third parties, though certain details are made available to Clients on the Platform to facilitate interaction. It is stored for as long as necessary for this purpose or as required by statutory retention periods. There is no obligation to provide this data, but without it you will not be able to use Youpalgroup's services.

9. Provisions for clients

If you register as a Client, the legal basis for processing is the initiation of a contract (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in storing data as evidence for the assertion and defence of legal claims. We process the first and last name, position, and e-mail address of your representative, along with any other information needed to cooperate with Talents through the Platform. After you decline to continue or terminate cooperation, the personal data you transmitted is stored for 1 year and then deleted. You can revoke your consent to the keeping of your personal data at any time by writing to us at legal@youpal.se; the lawfulness of processing before your revocation is unaffected. There is no obligation to provide this data, but without it we cannot assess whether you are suitable for the cooperation.
